Prison Ministry, Philippines, Interesting Encounters, For Dad, Albania

Prison Ministry

Right before I left Florida the Brothers from the Church I attended while there presented me with a certificate for completing the prison ministry training. Which also required a Florida background check. Took me about a month to complete. I was able to go to the prison a few times while in Florida. Was a blessing. If I attended this Church long term I would be involved in this ministry. More salvations and water baptisms come from this ministry than many I know in the US.

Philippines

Me receiving my resident visa for the Philippines.

This Brother has been a blessing to me ever since I arrived in the Philippines. I was first introduced to him by Dr Ron Patterson several years ago. I was able to finally meet him for the first time when I arrived here.

I was honored that Pastor Joseph invited me to speak at Disciples Celebration Fellowship Church.

Also coming to the Philippines I was able to meet a Brother, his wife and her nephew. I had known this Brother for many years. Last time I saw him was 26 years ago while attending Bible College in Seattle.

Coming to the Philippines has been the hardest transition I’ve ever done in my life. It has been more challenging for me than I expected and has been a difficult adjustment. It is a difficult culture and country for me to adjust to. I came first to Manila to take care of the visa, drivers license, bank account, other business and visit friends I haven’t seen in many years or have never seen.

I will be moving again Jan 5 to another island where I will meet up with the pastor of the Church I’ll be helping. I also have a couple opportunities to volunteer some computer and administrative help to some other Filipino ministries. I have 150 kilos of things to move again. 5 checked bags. I will not have a washing machine at the next place.

Interesting Encounters

The older gentlemen is Bishop Butch Belgica and his younger son. I was introduced to him by pastor Joseph a few years ago. Was the first time we had met. He invited me to the feast of tabernacle celebration at his Church. The first 5 hour service I had ever attended. And the longest. Bishop Belgica was the Presidential Religious Advisor under the Philippine’s last president.

This is a Brother who is also a missionary and from Minnesota. I have known his family for many years. His father was my art teacher in elementary. And his sister was in my High School graduation class. We just happened to be crossing paths in an international airport as I was returning back to the Philippines from Albania. This I believe was a God encounter. And was encouraging to me.

For Dad

Some of you know my father was a police chief. I have made a point to try and get a photo with an officer in every country I visit. In remembrance of Dad.

Albania

This is Edita’s father, Jashar. Love this man. I was happy to see him again. He was one of the first people in Ballsh to accept Christ and one of the best voices for Christ in that community. Along with Edita.

Ballsh visit with Edita’s family. Some of the first we shared the Gospel to when I arrived in Albania. Ballsh was where we saw most people accept Christ.

Ministry with Superkids

A visit to Selit Church where I spoke and helped with children.

I thank God for my trip to Albania. It was only a 6 day trip but worth it. Coming to the Philippines has been so challenging that I believe the Lord knew I needed this trip. I missed Albania but I missed those I ministered with more.

Praise

1. For God’s Grace I’ve needed being here in the Philippines.

2. For my trip to Albania. Praise God!

Prayer

1. For my next move to another Philippine island. I will not have a washing machine. Will have 150 kilos of weight that needs to be allowed on the plane. I will need good internet connection for any volunteer computer ministry work I do.

2. That I don’t get burned out. I am feeling like my ministry barrel is running empty.

3. For another moving transition. At 54 yo these moves are not getting easier. Ever since I left Albania I have moved and relocated a lot.

Blessings – In Christ Service

Doug
